Patagonia Lithium (ASX:PL3) has completed well seven at 476m depth and recorded a 270 parts per million (ppm) lithium assay from the 282m packer test, proceeding to drill well eight.
In the northwest corner of the Formentera Lithium Project, the company completed well seven (JAM 26-07), which intersected a 50m clay body marking the basement Vizcachera Formation.
“While our target was 600m, calling the end of the hole at 476m was useful as we now have a marker of the compacted clay basement, which links to well five that was also observed in the passive seismic results,” Executive Chairman Phillip Thomas says.
“The porosity of the well was above expectations, and the sandy zone will provide a valuable source of lithium. We intersected more than 102m of sandy units with a Specific Yield greater than 16% and as high as 34%, which will greatly assist the production pumping rates.”
The BMR Gamma porosity survey recorded total porosity ranging from 15% to 42%, with specific yield ranging from 3% to 34%. The sandy unit that assayed 270ppm lithium had a specific yield between 8% and 23%, starting at 279m depth.
Three additional assays from depths of 160m, 210m and 270m remain at the laboratory awaiting results. The company is installing a 3in slotted PVC pipe in well seven to enable a 72-hour pump test. Selected core samples have been sent for porosity testing.
Well eight on the Cilon concession has completed its drill pad and will commence drilling once the PVC pipe installation at well seven finishes.
The location is close to where a 2023 subsurface sample assayed 1,122ppm lithium, extending the mineral resource estimate (MRE) boundary.
Patagonia Lithium holds two lithium brine projects covering 19,500ha at Salar de Jama in Jujuy province and 580ha at Incahuasi Salar in Salta Province, both in Argentina.
The company released an upgraded MRE in July 2025, totalling 551,000 tonnes lithium carbonate equivalent.
