Patagonia Lithium (ASX:PL3) has achieved “strong” brine flow from well three at the Formentera Lithium Project in Argentina, after conducting drilling on the geophysics line where two low resistivity areas were measured.
The drilling encountered very porous sands that would allow “strong” production brine flows.
In a LinkedIn post, Patagonia Lithium says the high porosity continues, meaning the company will have “very good brine release numbers” once the assays have been received.
“Over 200ms, so the conductivity is high, which means more lithium in the brines,” the post continues.
“The aquifer interval is super impressive with 15 minutes to fill up a 200L tank – means lots of flow.“
Patagonia Lithium says six packer assay tests were completed from 86.5m to 254.5m, all with strong flow. The highest flow rate was 800 litres per hour through a two inch pipe at 188.5m.
The company adds 12,800 litres per hour of brine has been pumped from the well to date.
Executive Chairman Phillip Thomas says the results are good news for Patagonia going forward.
“The flow rates achieved to date are extremely encouraging as is the porous lithology over more than 150m,” Thomas says.
“The depth of the aquifer tested means strong flow rates when we go to production. Brines will be pumped from below the well depth.”
Patagonia Lithium is a lithium-focused company that owns two lithium brine projects called Formentera and Cilon. The company has also applied for 41,746 hectares of concessions exploring for ionic rare earth clays, niobium, gallium, and lithium in pegmatites.
