Western Australian gold explorer Odyssey Gold (ASX:ODY) will start drilling at the Tuckanarra Joint Venture Project in Western Australia which is targeting strike extensions to the structure in the oxide zone at the Highway Zone.
Odyssey will also undertake a ground electromagnetic (EM) trial to detect sulphide replacement of banded iron formation (BIF) associated with gold mineralisation; as well as diamond drilling to drill over 5g/t Au down-dip to demonstrate the scale of the underground mining potential.
The company has extended the ultramafic stratigraphy by 650m at the Highway Zone, located within the Tuckanarra Joint Venture (JV) Project in Western Australia.
The company reports a 54-hole aircore (AC) drilling program for 1,643m was completing adding 6 lines of 200m by 40m spaced drilling to the east of Highway Zone has extended the ultramafic host stratigraphy to the east and has defined mineralisation for future reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
Key intercepts recorded in AC drilling east of the Highway Zone includes TCKAC0236 with 2m @ 5.5g/t Au from 21m including 1m @ 9.5g/t Au from 21m; along with TCKAC0237 with 2m @ 1.1g/t Au from 54m, and 2m @ 0.5g/t Au from 4m.
“Results of RC drilling at the Highway Zone reported in March 2023 showed the mineralisation remained open to the east with 15m @ 1.2g/t A on the most eastern line of drilling”
Commenting on the results, Odyssey Gold Managing Director Matt Briggs says: “The focus of the company’s drilling is to rapidly define near surface gold mineralisation amenable to open pit mining. Results of RC drilling at the Highway Zone reported in March 2023 showed the mineralisation remained open to the east with 15m @ 1.2g/t A on the most eastern line of drilling.
Recent aircore drilling has further extended the favourable ultramafic host for an additional 650. High grades have been intersected in oxide demonstrating the potential for additional shallow oxide mineralisation to be defined.
This area is prospective and has surface workings for 200m of strike and grab samples assayed last year yielded up to 18.5g/t Au and March results of 3m @ 1.5g/t in scout RC drilling highlighting the potential for the continued growth of this system.”
Odyssey reports a large area of granite was intersected starting 650m east of the resource drilling, and notes ultramafic is mapped to the east of the granite intrusion with an additional 2.3km of host stratigraphy interpreted to the east of the granite.
Odyssey Gold is a Western Australian gold explorer focused on its portfolio of projects in the Meekatharra-Cue belt of Western Australia. These projects include the Tuckanarra JV, and the Stakewell Gold projects.
