North Stawell Minerals (ASX:NSM) has conducted a surface geochemistry program in support of a current two to three hole diamond drilling program at the Darlington Project in Victoria.
A soil sample test-line at Darlington drill site has shown surface expressions of drill-confirmed mineralisation trends can be identified at surface. Based on this outcome, a larger survey is underway.
CEO Campbell Olsen says this surface geochemistry program will help understand the surface extents of this mineralisation using large-area, low-cost surface geochemistry methods.
“This will support more ambitious drilling from the maiden high-grade gold intercept,” Olsen says.
“New geochemistry from soil sampling, drill core, and waste heap sampling provide the geochemical signature of the target mineralisation. Continued positive results will see similar geochemistry programs executed along the 3.6km of the gold-prospective Darlington-Caledonia trend.”
Selective waste heap sampling has returned multi-ounce gold results associated with the historical Darlington Mine. Historical production grades from 18 to 20 grams per tonne gold was achieved, and up to 77g/t gold, over the 3.6km length of the trend.
The North Stawell Project, covering 504km2, includes a gold-prospective structural corridor north of Stawell Gold Mines in Victoria, Australia. The Darlington prospect lies within a 8km structurally favourable corridor extending from Stawell through Darlington to Caledonia.
