North Stawell Minerals (ASX:NSM) has received results from the first two holes of diamond drilling at the Darlington Project in Victoria.
Diamond drilling at holes NSD059 and NSD060 provided a down dip continuation of an intercept from hole NSD057, where mineralisation is open at depth and along strike.
North Stawell says drilling at the two holes returned similar characteristics to ore styles observed at the historical Mariners lode at Stawell.
Intercepts returned 0.3m @ 5.8 grams per tonne gold from 231m at hole NSD060 and 0.75m @ 1.4g/t gold from 159.65m at hole NSD059, following on from North Stawell’s gold intercept of 2.3m @ 29.2g/t gold from 108.2, including 0.8m @ 82.3g/t gold from 108.2m at hole NSD057.
The intercepts returned from holes NSD059 and NSD060 are 30m and 100m vertically below mineralisation seen in NSD057 respectively.
CEO Campbell Olsen says results increase the company’s confidence in a “strong parallel with geology, mineralisation, grade, and structure with the historic Mariners lodes at Stawell, 6km to the south”.
“Focus now is to identify the controls on high-grade mineralisation within the established mineralised trend,” Olsen says.
“This is an exciting result that adds to our existing understanding of the Stawell Corridor mineralisation. We are exploring against a Mariners structural model and are encouraged that Darlington has similarities to the Mariners high grade deposit at Stawell.
“Importantly, the Stawell Corridor is not typically associated with high grade gold, with all published resources in the corridor having grades greater than 5g/t gold.
“The intercepts in NSD059 and NSD060, if proven to be part of a larger, coherent mineralised Mariners lode, have the potential to focus strong interest in the Darlington region.”
