Nexus returns gold at Payns

Nexus Minerals (ASX:NXM) has confirmed gold mineralisation previously identified at the Payns Prospect within the Wallbrook Gold Project after completing a 5,172m reverse circulation program.

Across 46 drillholes to follow up the footprint identified in a previous aircore program, Nexus confirmed mineralisation spanning 900m by 750m open north and south along strike, as well as down plunge.

The program returned results including 8m @ 7.99 grams per tonne gold from 40m, including 24m @ 2.8g/t gold, and 4m @ 4.24g/t gold from 56m.

Managing Director Andy Tudor says the prospect continues to demonstrate the continuity of gold mineralisation with 45 drillholes from the total 46 intersecting.

“As this represents the first reverse circulation program to be completed at Payns, the exploration team remains busy interpreting new information, which will include one metre split samples once received,” Tudor says.

Nexus is currently collecting and submitting one metre samples at the laboratory to define a higher grade core, with results expected in August.

Meanwhile, the company is also looking to further its geological understanding and vector targets from an upcoming multi-element litho-geochemical analysis.

“Given the collective aircore and now reverse circulation composite results we remain confident that the prospect will continue to build, making a worthy addition to the Wallbrook Project with potential to add to the project’s gold resources,” Tudor adds.

Historical results from an aircore program returned 4m @ 7.12g/t gold from 8m, including 20m @ 1.77g/t gold, and 4m @ 6.85g/t gold from 28m including 16m @ 2.74g/t gold.

Nexus will collate results to plan for a further program including infill drilling of the mineralised envelope and extensional drilling laterally and down dip, as a part of the company’s greater strategy to expand the project’s near-surface ounce portfolio.
