Nelson spots ‘bonanza’ silver at Orleans underground

Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) reports ‘exceptional’ underground channel sampling results from the Orleans Mine at its Gold Point Project in Nevada, US, with standout grades reaching 3,840 grams per tonne silver (Ag).

Significant intercepts yielded 3,840g/t Ag and 10.3g/t gold (Au) over 3m; and 1,865g/t Ag and 2.72g/t Au over 3m.

The company collected 30 continuous channel samples along the exposed hematite-quartz breccia vein on the 300-foot level, with sample lengths ranging from 2.6m to 4.0m.

‘High grade’ gold was also confirmed with accompanying silver, including 3m @ 77.30g/t Au and 102g/t Ag; and 3m @ 27.20g/t Au and 27g/t Ag.

Nelson notes mineralisation correlates with brecciated quartz structures and cross-cutting subsidiary faults within the main vein fault.

Non-Executive Chairman Gernot Abl says the latest results continue to demonstrate the gold and silver potential of the Gold Point Project.

“By systematically sampling along the exposed vein, we are building a clearer picture of grade variability and structural controls,” Abl says.

Nelson has planned diamond drilling covering up to 15 core holes from underground positions using a Bazooka drill rig, with metallurgical testwork already initiated and equipment to be mobilised to site imminently.

The program aims to test extensions of the Orleans vein up to approximately 40m beyond existing workings.

The company also expects assay results from channel sampling completed on the 400-foot level within two to four weeks, while results from the maiden underground aircore drilling program are expected shortly.

Nelson has executed an agreement to earn up to a 90% interest in the Gold Point Project, which includes over 5km of underground workings across five historical mines.

Reported pre-WWII production at the project totals approximately 75,000oz Au at an average grade of 20–30g/t Au.

Nelson Resources is a gold and mineral explorer focusing on unlocking deposits in Western Australia and Nevada.
