Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) has reported ‘high-grade’ copper-gold results from reconnaissance sampling at its Cinnamon Property in Nevada, US.
Rock chip sampling at the newly identified Sheba target. This target returned up to 1.95 grams per tonne gold (Au) and 40.30g/t silver (Ag), with accompanying base metals including 6.63% lead.
These results confirm an epithermal signature within a broader intrusive-related hydrothermal system.
The Sheba target sits on the footwall of the Luning-Fencemaker Thrust, coincident with potassic and magnetic anomalies.
Sampling of narrow veins and faults cross-cutting volcanic breccia returned elevated pathfinder elements, including arsenic, antimony, mercury, and cadmium. Traces of these elements are consistent with a shallow-to-distal epithermal environment.
Non-Executive Chairman Gernot Abl says the company has delivered a copper-gold discovery in a short timeframe since acquiring the property.
“Rock chips at Sheba have returned up to 1.95g/t gold and 40.3g/t silver with high-grade copper, lead and zinc — a clear epithermal signature sitting on the footwall of a major regional thrust,” Abl says.
The Cinnamon Property comprises 186 BLM lode claims immediately west of Guardian Metal Resources’ (LON:GMET) Pilot Mountain Tungsten Project.
Nelson has integrated high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric geophysics with hyperspectral mapping to delineate the hydrothermal system.
Five priority targets have been identified across the property. The adjacent Ophir target shows intense epidote-chlorite alteration flanking a large iron-oxide hyperspectral footprint within favourable limestone host rocks.
Reconnaissance mapping has verified the alteration and identified a previously unmapped quartz monzonite intrusion.
The exploration model targets intrusive-related tungsten skarn mineralisation within Luning Formation limestone adjacent to quartz monzonite stocks, similar to the geological setting at the neighbouring Pilot Mountain project.
Nelson plans detailed prospecting, geological mapping, and systematic rock chip sampling at both the Sheba copper-gold target and Ophir tungsten target.
Structural mapping and trace-element geochemical sampling will be conducted at the remaining targets to vector toward potential deeper mineralisation.
Nelson Resources is an Australian gold explorer advancing a portfolio of projects across Western Australia, alongside its newly acquired Nevada assets.
