MinRex reports pegmatites with visible spodumene across East Pilbara projects

MinRex Resources (ASX: MRR) has announced the discovery of ‘large, rich’ pegmatites hosting visible spodumene and other minerals across its recently-acquired Tambourah North, Haystack Well and Coondina South lithium projects in the East Pilbara.

This recent discovery has led the company to commence a second ground reconnaissance field program across its various lithium projects.

Speaking on the results, MinRex Resources Non-Executive Director George Karageorge said: “We are delighted to have identified spodumene within extensive outcropping pegmatites over 3 projects areas. These rich spodumene stacked pegmatites have extensive width, strike and zoning which have all the hallmarks of a potential Archer Lithium Deposit.

MinRex is currently working on the first RC drill program to test the extensive stacked pegmatites over all 3 project areas with a view of signing the drilling contractor to undertake drilling over the projects once all approvals have been issued.”

The company notes that no modern exploration has been conducted within the tenement areas.

Samples gathered from the Haystack Well Lithium Project and its historic Twin Wells alluvial tailings have been sent for assaying after historic tantalum alluvial workings proved to be a strong indicator of localised LCT pegmatites.

Moreover, the Goldilocks Zone at the Coondina South Lithium Project has proven to be an area of potential after reconnaissance identified ‘extensive’ tourmaline-rich spodumene pegmatites at surface along low-lying areas of the Hamersley Basin Sediments.

With initial field programs completed and further ground reconnaissance programs underway, the company reports they will move forward with plans for a future drilling campaign likely to commence during Q2 2022 across the portfolio of lithium projects.
