Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) has conducted the first gold pour at the Murchison Gold Project in Western Australia, following completion of commissioning work ahead of a scheduled increase in production.
The company notes ore stocks have continued to build in front of the processing plant as open-pit mining ramps up after the arrival of the third dig fleet in June 2025.
Managing Director Tim Davidson says this is an “impressive” achievement to deliver first gold on time and within 12 months of breaking ground at Murchison.
“We are now focused on ramping up gold production toward our targeted 80,000 ounces per annum with the arrival of the third dig fleet and expanded open-pit mining plan underway, and first ore from underground at Andy Well in the September 2025 quarter,” Davidson says.
The Murchison Gold Project covers the northern extent of the Mount Magnet and Youanmi Shear zones in the Murchison Goldfields of Western Australia. The project hosts a resource of 1.2 million ounces @ 3 grams per tonne gold.
As Mining.com.au previously reported, gold has danced to its own rhythm during Q2 2025, with spot prices surging past $5,000 per ounce, driven largely by geopolitical tensions and shifting monetary signals.
Gold’s price sat at $5,075.74 per ounce on 2 July 2025, as reported by the ABC Bullion.
Meeka Metals will be attending the Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 23-25 July, at the Peppers Noosa Resort.
Mining.com.au is an official media partner of this year’s conference.
