Meeka’s Turnberry deep hole finds the green

Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) has resumed diamond drilling at the Turnberry Central zone after intersecting significant ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation 200m below the current underground ore reserve.

The company’s latest diamond drilling program returned 52.3m @ 3 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 474.1m, including 30.6m @ 3.40g/t Au and 10.5m at 3.7g/t Au in hole 26TBRD002.

Additional results include 18m @ 3g/t Au from 533m, including 9m @ 5.1g/t Au in hole 26TBRD004, and 13.8m @ 2.40g/t Au from 508m, including 4m @ 5.80g/t Au in hole 26TBRD006.

“Strong shearing, along with the pyrite and chalcopyrite mineral assemblage, suggests we are at the intermediate level of a hydrothermal system with strong depth potential approaching a hotter, more metal-rich source,” Managing Director Tim Davidson says.

The ‘high-grade’ gold intersections are associated with pyrite and chalcopyrite within strongly sheared, fractionated dolerite units.

Epidote flanking the shear zone is interpreted as propylitic alteration, representing the outer shell of the hydrothermal system.

Shearing intensity appears to increase toward the central zone, corresponding with increased grade and width of mineralisation at depth.

The results highlight potential for extension and growth to the current Turnberry Mineral Resource of 690,000 ounces at 2g/t Au.

“The broad zones of high-grade gold, far deeper than any previous drilling previously at Turnberry Central, suggest there is significantly more gold than captured by the current Mineral Resource,” Davidson adds.

Diamond drilling recommenced in July targeting strike and depth extensions to holes 26TBRD002 and 004. MEK is now targeting the potential metal-rich zone down-plunge and along strike of these holes.

Meeka Metals is a Western Australian gold developer advancing Turnberry within the broader Murchison Gold Project.
