Meeka kicks off commissioning at Murchison

Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) has begun commissioning at the Murchison Gold Project in Western Australia, with ore being fed into the processing plant.

The commissioning team is working with the construction and processing teams to commission the processing plant, with wet commissioning underway. The company expects the first gold pour to take place sometime this month.

Meeka, which has a market capitalisation of $402.15 million, says the first gold sales and cashflow is expected early next month.

According to Trading Economics, gold increased to US$3,370 ($5,189.70) per ounce, as escalating US-Iran tensions and fresh trade policy signals from US President Trump boosted safe haven demand.

Gold’s price sat at $5,204.80 at the time of writing yesterday (12 June), as reported by ABC Bullion.

Managing Director Tim Davidson says the company has achieved an important milestone as it transitions from developer to producer.

“It rounds out a period of consistent delivery against our development timeline and reflects our focussed actions to bring the project online,” Davidson says.

“We are now focussed on maximising the expanded open pit mining opportunity following the success we are having with the drill bit. Additionally, the first ore is expected from our first underground mine at Andy Well in the September 2025 quarter.”

The Murchison Gold Project hosts a 1.2 million ounce @ 3 grams per tonne gold resource on granted mining leases. The project covers the northern extent of the Mount Magnet and Youanmi Shear Zones in the Murchison Goldfields.

Meeka Metals will be attending the Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 23-25 July, at the Peppers Noosa Resort. Mining.com.au is an official media partner of this year’s conference.
