Medallion eyes Trilogy’s ‘substantial’ growth opportunity

Medallion Metals (ASX:MM8) is planning to integrate the Trilogy deposit in Western Australia, into the Ravensthorpe-Forrestania Project sulphide development strategy.

The company says Trilogy represents a “substantial” growth opportunity for Ravensthorpe-Forrestania, and being able to integrate the deposit into the framework represents a potential uplift in production scale, mine life, and project returns.

A metallurgical testwork program will assess the viability of including Trilogy within the broader sulphide strategy — which involves mining at Ravensthorpe and processing at the Cosmic Boy processing plant at the Forrestania Nickel Operation.

The testwork is being developed specific to the copper-gold and lead-zinc-silver dominant zones at Triology. The program is expected to begin mid-year.

Medallion adds that Trilogy is amenable to flotation and is well-suited to the configuration of the Cosmic Boy flotation plant at Forrestania. The established infrastructure provides a potential processing solution, which could enable the company to monetise the polymetallic mineralisation using the same infrastructure that will treat the Kundip gold-copper material.

This option is contingent on completing the proposed transaction to acquire certain assets of the Forrestania operation with IGO (ASX:IGO), as this news service previously reported.

Negotiations are continuing to progress with IGO relating to the proposed acquisition of the Forrestania assets. The drafting of binding documents is advancing and Medallion expects this process to be completed within the current term of the deal, which has been extended to May 2025.

Further, the company is investigating potential offtake opportunities for higher grade portions for direct shipping, which may offer near-term cashflow generation with limited capital expenditure.

Sample mass will be provided to third parties that have expressed interests in securing access to mined ore on a direct shipping basis.

In conjunction, Medallion says these factors including Trilogy’s strategic location and permitting advantages, position the deposit as a strategic asset with the potential to materially enhance its project pipeline and production profile.

This news comes after Medallion received assay results from Trilogy which confirm broad zones of polymetallic mineralisation.

Managing Director Paul Bennett says the results confirm the potential of high–value mineralisation within the fresh component of the deposit — the domain best suited for treatment at Forrestania.

“Subject to demonstrating good recoveries and commercial pathways, Trilogy could provide a meaningful addition to the production profile and enhance the returns of the sulphide production strategy,” Bennett says.

Medallion Metals is a gold and copper-focused explorer and developer that is focused on the pathway to production with its flagship Ravensthorpe Gold Project in Western Australia.

The Trilogy deposit, located 9km south of the Kundip Mining Centre, is part of the broader Jerdacuttup Project.
