GR Engineering scores EPC contract for Cosmic Boy transition

GR Engineering Services (ASX:GNG) has executed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Myamba Minerals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Medallion Metals (ASX:MM8).

Under the contract, GR Engineering will conduct design, procurement, construction, and commissioning works at the Cosmic Boy Concentrator facility in Western Australia. The works will convert the existing facility into a standalone operation capable of producing copper concentrate and gold doré.

The contract is valued at $50 million and follows GR Engineering’s early engineering works and the ordering of long-lead items.

GR Engineering Managing Director Tony Patrizi says the company is pleased to play a “key role in the conversion of the Cosmic Boy Concentrator”.

“GR Engineering has a long history at this site having designed and constructed the Cosmic Boy Concentrator in 2009,” Patrizi says.

“We look forward to working with the Medallion team to safely and successfully deliver this project.”

GR Engineering secured commitments for a $100 million institutional placement last month, issuing shares at $6.10 each and representing a 3.3% discount to the last trading price.

GR Engineering is a process engineering consultancy and contractor to the mining and mineral-processing industries in Australia and internationally.

Separately, the engineering contractor was engaged by Maritana Minerals (ASX:MRT) in July to deliver an early works program at its Black Swan Processing Hub (BSPH) in Western Australia.

Maritana is targeting gold production in H2 2027 at BSPH, following the completion of a 2.5-million-tonne-per-annum front-end engineering and design study in June 2026.

The early works program will span 20 weeks and covers earthworks, demolition, detailed engineering, and long-lead equipment procurement.

Maritana has committed around $25 million for early works at BSPH, with completion targeted in early Q4 as it finalises contract arrangements with GR Engineering.

The EPC contract is being finalised, positioning Maritana for a seamless transition from early works to full construction ahead of a final investment decision.

Maritana Minerals is an emerging mid-tier gold producer focused on developing the BSPH near Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia.
