Lanthanein Resources plunges into upcoming RC drilling program at Lyons Rare Earth Project

Lanthanein Resources (ASX:LNR) has introduced a reverse circulation (RC) drill program for more than 10,000m, targeting ‘large-scale’ carbonatite targets and ‘high-grade’ ironstones at the Lyons Rare Earth Project in Western Australia. 

The program is scheduled to begin in the coming days, with a geological team mobilised to site for preparation, as well as site works for drill access underway. 

Additionally, Lanthanein has received approval for $200,000 in co-funding as part of round 26 of the Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety’s (DMIRS) Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) to investigate the potential for large tonnage REE carbonatites, similar to Lynas Corporation’s (ASX:LYC) Mount Weld Deposit. 

The company states 2 diamond holes will be drilled into deeper carbonatite targets, scheduled for early May. 

This announcement follows recent reconnaissance rock chip sampling that uncovered new ironstone trends with the potential to host rare earth element (REE) mineralisation, outcropping at surface. 

Commenting on this new discovery, Lanathanein Resources Technical Director, Brian Thomas says: “The identification of new outcropping ironstone trends is extremely positive with these rock chips being sent for priority analysis in Perth, with results expected in the next few weeks.

The new discoveries are especially pleasing as they are the results of the geological team’s growing understanding of the rare earth mineralisation controls within the Gifford Creek Carbonatite complex.

Lanthanein states that an independent consulting group, Resource Potentials recently completed a program of ground magnetic surveying over 5 different areas targeted for drill testing.

The purpose of this was to ensure drillholes are targeted on the highest resolution magnetic geophysical information possible. 

Additionally, the interpretation of the results is continuing, and preliminary results demonstrate the ‘significance’ of 3D modelling the high-resolution data to best locate both the 2 diamond EIS holes and other RC drillholes. 

Lanthanein notes that carbonatites are becoming ‘increasingly important’ due to potential to host economic quantities of thorium, uranium, niobium, phosphorus, yttrium, and REEs, which are ‘strategically significant’ for modern technology. 

Within the company’s Lyons Block and along the Bald Hill Lineament, several carbonatite intrusions have been modelled from the airborne magnetics, with a similar dimension to the Mt Weld carbonatite. 

Lanthanein Resources is an emerging rare earth exploration company, focused on the discovery of critical minerals of REE’s in Tier-1 mining jurisdictions of Western Australia and South Australia.
