Great Northern Minerals (ASX:GNM) has completed preliminary testwork to assess the potential of magnetic separation of lithium-bearing minerals at Kuusisuo in Finland.
The company says dry magnetic separation techniques have produced results between 96-98% recovery of lithium in magnetic mineral concentrates that are 45.7-50.5% of the original total mass.
Great Northern says the results support the potential cost-effective processing solutions at Kuusisuo and provide further similarities to processing pathways reported at the Cinovec deposit in the Czech Republic.
The company is preparing an exploration license application to enable preparation of future exploration work.
Managing Director Cameron McLean says the company expects the exploration licence application to be granted in 2H 2024.
