Great Northern Minerals (ASX:GNM) has finished a high-resolution drone magnetic survey at its Iron Butte Gold-Silver Project in Lander County, Nevada.
The unmanned aerial vehicle survey covered the project’s original main claim area, as well as the recently staked Caetano Rim area to the north, which added 35 claims in May 2026.
GNM says the survey aims to map bedrock geology and trace lithological boundaries, and locate subsurface faults that are otherwise obscured at the surface.
Data from the survey will guide Great Northern’s maiden drilling program, which is scheduled to begin in Q3 2026.
The upcoming campaign intends to expand the project’s maiden inferred mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 480,000 ounces of gold and 11.5 million ounces of silver.
Exploration will also target depth and strike extensions, testing for deeper Carlin-style gold and silver mineralisation beneath the current resource footprint.
Non-Executive Chairman Eddie King says the completion of the survey is an “important operational step” for GNM.
“This data will refine our drill targeting, support permitting applications, and ensure our maiden drilling campaign is executed with precision and strategic confidence across the expanded project footprint,” King says.
The company is currently progressing permitting and contractor engagement in preparation for its maiden drilling program.
It is also evaluating initial surface sampling results from Caetano Rim, which are expected in late July.
Great Northern Minerals is a mineral explorer focused on the development of critical minerals, rare earths, gold, and silver across North America and Australia.
