Great Northern Minerals (ASX:GNM) has defined four new exploration targets at its Iron Butte Gold-Silver Project in Nevada, US.
The company completed a three-dimensional review of dipole-dipole induced polarisation (DDIP) data across a 3km target area, following reprocessing of historical geophysical data.
Perth-based consultancy Resource Potentials conducted the reprocessing work, which identified four chargeability anomalies.
Iron Butte Central sits directly beneath the existing inferred silver resource, where previous drilling intersected 1.5m @ 13.5 grams per tonne gold (Au) and 11.5g/t silver (Ag) from 405.4m.
The strong undrilled chargeability anomaly reaches up to 30 millivolts per volt and occurs up-dip from this intersection.
Iron Butte North coincides with a geochemical anomaly containing elevated gold and silver in soil samples. Surface rock samples returned up to 2g/t Au and 10g/t Ag in this area.
Iron Butte South sits 900m southeast of the existing resource beneath two drill holes that ended in mineralisation. Historical hole H64-89 returned 51.8m at 0.20g/t Au from 100.6m, while nearby hole CA-19 intersected 13.8m at 25g/t Ag.
Caetano represents the fourth target, located 1km northeast of the current resource within newly staked claims.
The anomaly sits approximately 200m west of previous drilling that intersected 10.7m at 0.17g/t Au and 11.1g/t Ag from 9.1m.
“The new exploration targets identified through our detailed review of the existing DDIP data have the potential to significantly expand the existing JORC resource at Iron Butte,” Non-Executive Chairman Eddie King says.
“These targets validate our assumption that there is an opportunity to significantly increase the scale and upside potential of the project given the potential for epithermal-carlin-style mineralisation.”
Chargeability anomalies potentially indicate disseminated sulphide mineralisation related to gold-silver deposits in fresh rock.
The company considers all four targets high priority given their location within the Battle Mountain-Eureka Trend.
Great Northern Minerals is progressing permitting and contractor engagement for its maiden drilling campaign at Iron Butte, targeting commencement in Q3 2026.
