Kingfisher Mining dives deep to uncover additional ‘high-grade’ REE at Mick Well Project in WA

ASX-listed mineral exploration company Kingfisher Mining (ASX:KFM) reports it has uncovered new ‘high-grade’ rare earth element (REE) discoveries at its 100% owned projects in the Gascoyne Mineral Field in Western Australia. 

Kingfisher notes that the results follow a rock chip sampling program and confirms the discovery of a new lode with an additional strike length of more than 1km of outcropping mineralisation within the MW7 prospect. Key assays including 31.82% Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO) with 5.99% neodymium (Nd2O3) + praseodymium (Pr6O11).  

It also reports that ongoing mapping has also identified a second target at the MW7 prospect, which is interpreted to merge with the initial discovery. 

Speaking on the REE discovery, Kingfisher Mining’s Executive Director and CEO, James Farrell says: “Our on-going field work along our 54km target corridor at Mick Well continues to deliver new ‘high-grade’ REE discoveries, with the latest results from MW7 confirming another series of parallel dykes and veins just 700m northwest of our ‘high-grade’ MW2 discovery.

The current mapping has largely focused on just 5km of the 54km corridor and has already confirmed over 5km of outcropping mineralisation in cross-cutting structures. There is no doubt this is developing into a ‘significant’ REE corridor and region.

Our drilling program at MW2 is progressing well and is on schedule. The first samples have already left site and we expect to see the first laboratory assays in January of next year.”

The company also notes that additional rock chips from the MW2 prospect collected in late October have led to the discovery of further REE mineralisation, with new results including 20.78% TREO with 3.31% Nd2O3 + Pr6O11. 

In addition, it is reported that the total strike length of mapped outcropping dykes and veins at the MW2, 7 and 8 prospects has exceeded 5km, with surface mapping targeting additional mineralisation currently on-going within the Mick Well REE target corridor.

Kingfisher Mining is an ASX-listed mineral exploration company committed to increasing value for shareholders through the acquisition, exploration and development of mineral resource projects throughout WA. The company’s Mick Well project is located about 230km east of the township of Carnarvon within WA’s Gascoyne region and comprises exploration licences that cover a total land area of 969km-square. The project is considered prospective for REE mineralisation that is associated with carbonatite intrusions discovered by the company. 

With the current exploration activities at the Mick Well project still ongoing, Kingfisher announces that first samples have already been dispatched for laboratory analysis, with first results expected to be received in January next year.
