Kingfisher confirms ‘high-grade’ light rare earth elements at Mick Well

Kingfisher Mining (ASX: KFM) has identified ‘high-grade’ rare earths following RC drilling at its 100% owned Mick Well Project within Western Australia’s Gascoyne Mineral Fields.

Analysis of 1 metre samples from previously-reported RC hole MWRC004 has returned individual grades including 4m @ 1.84% TREO; including 1m @ 3.87% TREO.

Respective Nd & Pr values include 4m @ 0.34% Nd2O3 and Pr6O11; including 1m @ 0.7% Nd2O3 and Pr6O11.

Kingfisher also notes that further ‘highly encouraging’ anomalous rare earth elements have been identified in a historical diamond drill hole in the west zone of the company’s tenure, with results including 3.4m @ 0.14% TREO.

Addressing the results, Kingfisher Mining Executive Director and CEO James Farrell said: “The analysis of the one metre samples from the rare earth discovery drill hole at Mick Well has revealed high-grade light rare earth elements within the previously reported interval. The company has commenced mineralogy studies on the mineralisation which is now known to consist of the REE bearing minerals allanite and monazite.

Follow-up drilling has been scheduled to commence mid-April and will target the high-grade rare earth element mineralisation intersected in MWRC004 as well as a number of other high-priority targets in the immediate Mick Well Area.”

The company believes that the historical diamond drill intercept, located 24km along strike from Mick Well, highlights the potential of the 54km of strike of the target shear zones within its tenure.

The Mick Well Project is located approximately 230km east of Carnarvon in Western. Rare earth mineralisation was only recently identified at the project, with Kingfisher reporting the discovery of up to 0.16% TREO from surface geochemical sampling in late 2021. Previous exploration at the project was focused on copper discovery.

Mapping, rock sampling and ground-based radiometric surveys are currently underway at the project, with Kingfisher reporting that follow-up drilling of the initial high-grade interval as well as other high-priority targets is scheduled to begin in April.
