Kairos Minerals (ASX:KAI) is targeting an updated resource estimate for the Mt York Gold Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia in H1 2026, covering the entirety of the asset’s 1,500m extension.
Managing Director Peter Turner says the project has demonstrated “good widths and grades of gold mineralisation” from recent drilling, combined with last year’s 27,000m campaign for the resource estimate.
“Drill planning is also well advanced and an aggressive 2026 drill program of up to 50,000m is underway – we anticipate having two diamond rigs on site at Mt York before the end of March with negotiations underway to increase the number to four in April,” Turner says.
The company has returned intercepts from the remaining 11 drillholes completed at the Main Hill Extension prospect, with a highlight of 8m @ 3.81 grams per tonne gold from 128m, including 1m @ 11.16g/t gold from 133m.
Drilling will restart at Mt York in March 2026 for up to 50,000m, where Kairos will focus on gold targets between Main Hill and Main Hill Extension, including a 4.2km gold corridor.
The completed resource estimate will then be used to progress the project through a Prefeasibility Study later this year.
As reported by Mining.com.au, Kairos was granted a mining lease at the Mt York Project from the Western Australian Government in February 2026.
“We have already identified many opportunities to increase resources at Mt York further and look forward to delivering multiple resource increases this year through the drill-bit not just at Mt York, but also to start drilling at our Roe Hills Gold Project in the Kalgoorlie area,” Turner adds.
Trading Economics reports the price of gold at US$5,088 per ounce on 4 March, representing a 74.59% increase for this year over year.
Located 100km south of Port Hedland in Western Australia, the Mt York Gold Project has a current resource estimate of 1.4 million ounces of gold.
Kairos Minerals is focused on advancing its flagship Mt York Project, along with its portfolio of gold projects in the Pilbara and Eastern Goldfields.
