Iceni Gold identifies 2km long anomaly at Burges Bore within 14 Mile Well Project, Western Australia

Iceni Gold (ASX:ICL) reports it has identified a 2km long gold anomaly at the Burges Bore located within the 14 Mile Well Project around 50km from Laverton in Western Australia.

The company says the analysis of results from the UFF+ soil program has identified a 2km long gold soil anomaly known as Burgess Bore and the anomaly displays as a gold only geochemical pattern and is interpreted to be on the contact of the Danjo Granite and surrounding greenstones.

The area where the granite contact is interpreted to be intersected by a series of north-northwesterly trending structures, and the gold anomaly is 2km long and over 1km across, with samples lines spaced 400m apart with sample spaced 50m apart along lines.

Iceni reports this new gold soil anomaly creates fresh drilling opportunities in a new prospect area that remains underexplored, and to date, the company has identified over 8 new coherent gold anomalies from the UFF+ soil sampling within the 14 Mile Well Project reinforcing the potential for gold discovery within the project.

The Burges Bore gold anomaly supports the nearby anomalism already identified within the nearby Guyer Well target area, and this new anomaly is ‘highly encouraging’ and is considered by the company to be a positive indicator for the possible presence of intrusion related gold or orogenic gold mineralisation.

Iceni says CSIRO UFF+ sampling commenced over 4 years ago on the 14 Mile Well Project as part of an ongoing research program, and this sampling culminated in the 2021 field season with over 11,000 UFF+ samples being collected, and now over 16,000 UFF+ samples in the 14 Mile Well dataset.

The UFF+ technique was developed to target ultrafine soil particles less than 2 microns in size, and the workflow involves a physical step to retain the ultrafine micro-particles and a chemical step to test for the presence of gold and other elements.

UFF+ soil samples at 14 Mile Well have identified a number of anomalous areas, and of particular interest to the company is the areas with anomalous gold values associated with ‘favourable’ alteration mineral distributions, pathfinder elements like silver or tellurium, or geophysical features.

Iceni reports the areas with ‘higher’ gold grades or more anomalous samples are considered to be more prospective, and exploration effort is focused in these areas as they have an increased probability for the discovery of an ore body.

It also notes that at the 14 Mile Well Project, UFF+ sampling is conducted on a regular grid across the entire project while rock chip sampling is limited to areas where rock is available at surface for sampling.

Iceni Gold is a Perth-based exploration company that operates the 14 Mile Well Gold Project in the Laverton Greenstone Belt, which includes the Claypan, Deep Well, North 1, Danjo Northeast, Everleigh Well, Guyer Well and the Monument target areas.
