Green Technology Metals returns further ‘high-grade’ lithium hits at Root Project, Canada

Multi-asset lithium company Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1) has encountered further ‘high-grade’ lithium assay results following diamond drilling at its wholly owned Root Project in Ontario, Canada.

The results, generated by a maiden diamond hole at the project’s Morrison deposit, and a further 17 diamond holes at the McCombe deposit, have encountered lithium (Li2O) grades up to 2.78%, and demonstrate that the McCombe deposit hosts a simpler mineralised system consisting of 1 major pegmatite averaging 10m true thickness striking east-west with shallow dip about 30 degrees to the south.

Adding on, the company says the deposit also comprises 4 pegmatites striking north-east with shallow to moderate dip to the south located in the northeast quadrant, which are all open along strike and down dip.

it’s great news to receive a near surface 10m wide spodumene intercept from the very first hole”

Key results include hole RL-22-0364 with 10.6m @ 1.25% Li2O from 54m including 8m @ 1.62% Li2O from 55m (Morrison); and drillhole RL-22-0499 with 7.2m @ 1.31% Li2O from 90.6m including 3.2m @ 2.78% Li2O from 90.6m (McCombe).

Drilling at the project was started to focus on the McCombe lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite system in order to target rapid delineation of a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE), with exploration now being expanded to the Morrison prospect about 1km east. Drilling is being undertaken by 2 drill rigs working day and night.

Addressing the results, Green Technology Metals Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Luke Cox said: “Morrison is the second target on the Root Project that hosts multiple lithium bearing pegmatites and it’s great news to receive a near surface 10m wide spodumene intercept from the very first hole.”

The company also notes that phase one drilling at McCombe has been completed and has delineated, extended and simplified the historical mineralised pegmatites in all directions.

In addition, Green Technology Metals announces that its planned maiden Root Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) is on track for delivery in Q1 2023.

Meanwhile, phase two drilling is reportedly underway and will continue to explore pegmatites along strike and down dip in the coming weeks for incorporation into the maiden MRE.

On the other hand, phase two drilling at Morrison will be designed to test for extensions of the mineralised pegmatites in all directions, infill key sections and rapidly facilitate delineation of an MRE for the deposit.

Green Technology Metals is an ASX-listed company focused on building the pre-eminent vertically integrated lithium business in Ontario, Canada. The company’s Root project is situated near the First Nation community of Slate Falls about 300km northwest of Thunder Bay. The project is readily accessible through all-weather roads and airports with emergency response capability in Slate Falls and Sioux Lookout.

Other assets included in the company’s portfolio include the Seymour and Wisa Projects, which are both located in Ontario, Canada.
