Galileo Mining starstruck by highest grade copper and gold results to date at Norseman Project

Galileo Mining (ASX:GAL) reports it has received the ‘highest’ individual copper (Cu) and gold (Au) grades to date following reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its 100% owned Norseman Project in Western Australia.  

The results, generated by ongoing RC drilling at the project’s Callisto palladium-platinum-gold-rhodium-copper-nickel (Pd-Pt-Au-Rh-Cu-Ni) discovery, have returned the highest copper and gold grades to date, as well as other ‘high-grade’ multi-element assays.     

Key results include hole NRCD320 with 33m at 2.05g/t 3E (1.71g/t Pd, 0.24g/t Pt, 0.10g/t Au), 0.24% Cu and 0.29% Ni from 271m, including 18m at 3.05g/t 3E (2.59g/t Pd, 0.33g/t Pt, 0.13g/t Au), 0.37% Cu and 0.39% Ni from 283m with 1m at 7.65g/t 3E (7.06g/t Pd, 0.37g/t Pt, 0.22g/t Au), 0.40% Cu and 0.44% Ni from 295m.    

Other results include hole NRCD301, which returned the ‘highest’ grades of Cu and Au over 1m to date, with 5.01g/t 3E (2.62g/t Pd, 0.57g/t Pt, 1.82g/t Au), 1.96% Cu and 1.19% Ni within a ‘high-grade’ 32m intersection. 

It is reported that the encountered mineralisation is interpreted as a broad continuous zone of disseminated sulphides, which remain open at depth to the east on drill lines 6,447,900 and 6,447,950. 

Commenting on the results, Galileo Mining Chairman and Managing Director, Brad Underwood says: “Ongoing drilling at Callisto continues to deliver consistently ‘high-grade’ results with the latest assays showing that palladium, nickel and copper grades are steadily increasing over wide intervals of mineralisation.

We are also seeing the highest individual copper and gold grades drilled to date which indicates we have yet to understand the full potential of this very large geological system.

In addition to the drilling at Callisto, the first program of metallurgical work is underway using drill core from NRCD337. Results from this work are expected within the first quarter of 2023.

Galileo also notes that metallurgical twin drillhole NRCD337 has confirmed ‘high-grade’ shallow mineralisation, warranting the commencement of a metallurgical program in conjunction with flotation tests, which are aimed at focusing on metal recoveries. 

In addition, drilling at the project is expected to resume in mid-January with a diamond rig, which will target ‘high-grade’ Pd-Ni-Cu zones to the east of current mineralisation. 

Galileo Mining is an ASX-listed resources company that is actively exploring the Norseman and Fraser Range projects for base metals in south-east WA.

The company’s Norseman project is considered highly prospective for Pd-Cu-Ni sulphide deposits and is wholly-owned by Galileo Mining. The project contains a near surface laterite deposit that contains over 26,000 tonnes of contained cobalt, as well as 122,000 tonnes of contained nickel within JORC compliant resources.   

With drilling still ongoing at the Norseman tenement, Galileo Mining announces that it is currently awaiting assays from a further 15 RC and diamond drillholes.
