Galileo Mining discovers new PGE prospectivity at Norseman Project, WA

Galileo Mining (ASX:GAL) has received fresh exploration drilling results that reveal a new zone of platinum group element (PGE) enrichment within its Norseman Project in Western Australia.

The drilling was conducted to the north of the Callisto palladium-nickel discovery, situated within the Norseman Project.

Galileo reports the drill intersection contains a 184m PGE-anomalous zone starting from surface: drillhole NRCD435 struck 184m @ 0.21g/t 3E (0.12g/t Pd, 0.08g/t Pt, 0.08g/t Au) from surface, including a ‘higher grade’ interval of 4m @ 2.32g/t 3E (1.30g/t Pd, 0.94g/t Pt, 0.08g/t Au) from 156m.

Additionally, the PGE enrichment occurs within a ‘high magnesium’ ultramafic rock with an average MgO content of 32% and is unique to the pyroxenite rock unit that hosts the Callisto mineralisation.

Commenting on the new discovery, Galileo Mining Managing Director Brad Underwood says: “Drilling an anomalous intersection over such a wide zone is a significant result from exploration drilling at our Norseman Project.

the assays show we have found a new type of rock containing palladium and platinum that is separate and unique from the rock which hosts the Callisto discovery 600m to the south”

In particular, the assays show we have found a new type of rock containing palladium and platinum that is separate and unique from the rock which hosts the Callisto discovery 600m to the south.

These results confirm the PGE enrichment at Callisto is not restricted to 1 rock unit, or 1 mineralisation style, and illustrates the opportunity for further discoveries within the 5km of ground along strike to the north.”

The MD adds that the company is set to begin a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the end of June at the Mission Sill and Jimberlana prospects, located 6km southeast of Callisto.

Galileo Mining is an ASX-listed exploration and development company focused on palladium, nickel, copper, and cobalt resources in Western Australia. The company’s tenements near Norseman are ‘highly prospective’ for palladium-copper-nickel sulphide deposits, as shown by the Callisto discovery.
