Flynn Gold begins drilling at historical Silver King mine

Flynn Gold (ASX:FG1) has begun maiden diamond drilling at the Silver King prospect within its Henty Silver-Lead-Zinc Project near Zeehan in Western Tasmania.

The company will drill up to six diamond holes for a total area of 1,200m to test extensions of historically mined silver-lead-zinc mineralisation along the 1.6km Silver King trend.

CEO Neil Marston says the program represents the first modern drill test of the trend in approximately 80 years.

“Silver King is a high-grade silver-lead system that was mined from the late 1880s to early 1900s and has since seen only very limited exploration drilling below the old workings,” Marston says.

“Historical production reports describe the selective mining of massive galena mineralisation extracted from rich vein shoots with high-grade ore grading approximately 25-45 ounces/tonne silver and 70-75% lead, with locally reported grades of up to 100 ounces/tonne silver at the South King mine.”

Historical drilling by North Broken Hill in 1947 returned reported assay grades of up to 547 grams per tonne silver and 47.5% lead over 0.5m beneath the Silver King mine.

The staged program will begin with a minimum of two holes for approximately 440m, with additional drilling contingent on geological observations and assay results.

At Silver King, drilling will test interpreted down-plunge extensions approximately 50-70m below the lowest historical underground levels, while at South King, located about 1km along strike, drilling will test extensions 20-80m below historical workings.

Flynn owns 100% of the Henty Project, which has access to infrastructure and services associated with nearby established mining operations.
