Flynn Gold (ASX:FG1) has extended gold–tungsten–copper mineralisation about 83m down dip from previous drilling at its Firetower Project in northern Tasmania.
Initial assays from extension hole 2019FTD014E returned 9.64m @ 2.49 grams per tonne gold (Au), 0.29% tungsten trioxide (WO3), 0.52% copper (Cu), 0.04% cobalt (Co), and 9.9g/t silver (Ag) from 200.13m.
The intersection also includes 3.77m @ 4.30g/t Au, 0.30% WO3, 0.37% Cu, and 11.24g/t Ag from 200.13m. A second interval returned 1.47m @ 4.62g/t Au, 1.10% WO3, 2.20% Cu, 0.07% Co, and 29.42g/t Ag from 208.3m.
The reported intervals are downhole lengths, with true widths yet to be determined. Flynn says the results extend the mineralised system beyond 200m vertical depth, with mineralisation remaining open along strike and at depth.
CEO Neil Marston notes the result strengthens the company’s confidence that gold and tungsten mineralisation continues below previous drilling.
“This drill hole intersected high-grade mineralisation about 80 metres below an earlier drill intersection, as predicted,” Marston says.
“Importantly, the hole returned not only strong gold and tungsten grades, but also increasing copper values, potentially adding a new dimension to the project and highlighting an increasingly compelling polymetallic opportunity.”
Flynn re-entered historical hole 2019FTD014, which it interpreted had been terminated before reaching the main polymetallic zone. The company extended the hole by 115.15m from its previous end-of-hole depth of 163m to 278.15m.
Assays have been received for the priority mineralised zone between 183.65m and 215.65m, with results from the remainder of the hole pending.
The company says it has completed three holes totalling about 520m of a planned 1,600m program. Assays from two additional holes targeting down-dip and along-strike extensions are expected in the coming weeks.
Firetower lies within the northeastern extension of the Mount Read Volcanics. Drilling by Flynn and previous explorers has traced mineralisation over about 250m of strike and beyond 200m vertical depth.
The diamond drilling program at Firetower combines extensional and infill drilling with the collection of core for metallurgical testing. Work planned for the remainder of 2026 includes further drilling, metallurgical testing, geological modelling towards a maiden mineral resource estimate, and a review of historical geophysical surveys.
