Canadian explorer Faraday Copper’s (TSX:FDY) Vice President of Exploration Thomas Bissig has received the 2024 Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) Colin Spence Award.
The award, sponsored by Dentons Canada, has been granted to Bissig for leading Faraday Copper’s discovery of new near-surface copper-silver mineralisation at the Copper Creek deposit in Arizona, US.
Earlier this month, Faraday revealed new opportunities to enhance the Copper Creek Project’s value after undertaking over 30,000m of incremental drilling.
Some of the latest assays include 118.28m @ 0.30% copper and 1.14 grams per tonne silver and 109.42m @ 0.41% copper, 0.007% molybdenum, and 1.24g/t silver.
A third phase drilling program is continuing within the project, focusing on near-surface mineralisation in the American Eagle and Rum areas.
AME Awards Committee Chairman C. Paul Jago says the individuals receiving these awards have shown “exceptional leadership, unwavering perseverance, and deep passion for their projects, teams, and the industry.”
On 22 January 2025, the recipients will be celebrated at the AME Celebration of Excellence Awards Gala at the Vancouver Convention Centre West.
Other recipients include Snowline Gold’s (TSX:SGD) CEO Scott Berdahl, BHP Xplor’s team Charlee Johnson, Sonia Scarselli, and Libby Sharman, Tahltan Nation Development, Veracio CIO Mike Ravella, Yukon Geological Survey’s head of bedrock geology Maurice Colpron, Archer, Cathro, and Associates, Britannia Mine Museum and MineralsEd, AME’s past Chairman Rob McLeod, alongside Major Drilling (TSX:MDI) and Skeena Gold + Silver (TSX:SKE).
The AME is an association for the mineral exploration and development industry based in British Columbia.
