The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) has announced six recipients of the 2027 PDAC Awards for outstanding accomplishments across exploration and development.
PDAC President Karen Rees says this year’s recipients demonstrate exceptional talent, leadership, and innovation.
“We’re especially proud to introduce the Emerging Leaders Award this year, recognising young professionals who are already making a significant impact in mineral exploration and development,” Rees says.
The PDAC Awards have recognised individuals, teams, and organisations for their standout contributions to mineral exploration and development since 1977. Recipients are celebrated at the Awards Celebration & Nite Cap, which will next take place on 9 March 2027 during the PDAC 2027 Convention in Toronto, Canada.
This year’s Bill Dennis Award, which recognises a Canadian discovery or prospecting success, goes to Snowline Gold’s (TSX:SGD) exploration team for the discovery of the Valley gold deposit at the Rogue Project in Yukon.
The Emerging Leaders Award recognises achievements by a young professional in the industry. This year’s award goes to Antoine Caté for his work on integrating geology, data science, and AI in mineral exploration.
The Skookum Jim Award recognises Indigenous achievements in the industry and goes to the Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly for advancing Indigenous-led assessment, stewardship, and participation in mineral development.
This year’s Sustainability Award has been given to B2Gold (TSX:BTO) for its transformation of the Otjikoto gold mine’s energy supply, adopting renewable power and local capacity building in Namibia.
The Thayer Lindsley Award recognises outstanding international mineral discoveries and goes to Pan American Silver’s (NYSE:PAAS) La Colorada exploration team for the discovery of the La Colorada skarn deposit in Mexico.
The final award is the Viola R MacMillan Award, which goes to Cupric Canyon Capital for the financing and development of the Khoemacau copper-silver mine in Botswana.
The PDAC Board selects award recipients based on recommendations from the association’s awards committee.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, with ticket sales opening in December on the PDAC website. Registration is now open for those wishing to be notified when tickets become available.
PDAC is a leading mineral exploration organisation, with over 9,000 members globally. The PDAC 2027 Convention will take place in Toronto from 7–10 March 2027.
