EV Resources (ASX:EVR) has produced its first antimony ingots from the Los Lirios Antimony Project in Oaxaca, Mexico, marking a “technical milestone” for the company.
The company produced ingots from both the Lirios 1 and Lirios 2 zones using preliminary direct-to-smelter testing at an independent metallurgical facility in Guadalajara.
The company conducted testing using varying flux compositions and melting temperatures to convert raw mineralisation into metal, with several ingot products produced.
EV Resources will now undertake detailed metallurgical testing on both the feedstock and final ingot products to further refine the process route.
CEO Mike Brown says the achievement represents a critical step toward the company’s North American antimony supply goals.
“Producing our first antimony ingots is another transformative moment for EV Resources towards our pathway to a North American antimony producer,” Brown says.
“This isn’t just a lab result; it is tangible proof that Los Lirios can deliver a finished metal product using straightforward metallurgical processes.
“By validating material from both Lirios 1 and Lirios 2, we have confirmed the potential simplified pathway for two different styles of material observed across the project area.”
Phase one diamond drilling is currently progressing at the Lirios 1 zone, targeting depth extensions of structures beneath historical artisanal workings along approximately 900m of strike within the Lirios Fault Zone.
The company is also conducting specialised X-ray fluorescence methodology tests to refine whole-rock antimony content accuracy for rock chip sampling.
Results from purity and composition assays of the produced ingots are pending, along with first assays from the Lirios 1 drilling campaign expected in between four to eight weeks.
