EQ Resources appoints Brook and Dermedgoglou to board

EQ Resources (ASX:EQR) has appointed two non‑executive directors as the tungsten producer prepares for a planned US listing.

Nicole Brook joins the board effective 25 August, bringing more than 30 years of mining industry experience across operational leadership, strategy, and business development.

She has held senior executive roles with Glencore (LON:GLEN) and Xstrata Coal, with responsibility spanning operations, major projects, mergers and acquisitions, and technical risk across complex mining businesses.

Brook currently serves as a non‑executive director of Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC) and was a director of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) from 2021 to 2025, serving as president and chair in 2023 and 2024.

Taki Dermedgoglou joins as a non‑executive director effective 26 August, nominated by Wonongarra, the investment vehicle wholly owned by Dr Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest AO. The appointment follows Wonongarra’s acquisition of Oaktree’s interest in EQ Resources, announced on 20 July, which included the transfer of a director nomination right.

Dermedgoglou brings capability in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance through roles at Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO), BHP Group (ASX:BHP), Macquarie Capital (ASX:MQG), and UBS Group (NYSE:UBS).

Stephen Weir, who joined the board in January 2024 as Oaktree’s nominee, has agreed to remain as a non‑executive director and continue as chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Following Oaktree’s sale of its interest, the board has determined Weir is now an independent non‑executive director.

Non‑Executive Chair Michael Nossal says the changes ‘greatly strengthen’ the board.

“Nicole has tremendous experience from her impressive executive and non-executive careers, particularly in the operating and life of mine development process — both of which are very relevant to EQR — as well as her stakeholder management skills and connectivity through her role with the AusIMM,” Nossal adds.

“Taki brings us deep expertise in the mining industry and critical minerals investment, strategy, and finance. We welcome both the perspective he will add to the board and the connectivity he will bring to the broader Forrest group.”

The board will undertake a comprehensive assessment of the skills and composition required for EQ Resources’ planned US listing, announced on 29 July. Further board changes may follow once that assessment is complete.

EQ Resources operates tungsten mining activities in Australia and Spain, with assets at Mt Carbine in Far North Queensland and Barruecopardo in Spain’s Salamanca Province.
