Kobrea Exploration (CSE:KBX) has completed the first-ever drilling program at the El Perdido Project in Argentina, confirming a ‘large’ copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry system.
Six holes were drilled for 2,358m, with geological observations indicating the porphyry system strengthens at depth, with increased intensity of alteration, veining, and sulphide assemblages. The core of the system remains untested.
Drilling intersected widespread porphyry-style mineralisation, quartz-stockwork veining, and localised potassic alteration. Three holes with copper mineralisation stopped short at shallow depth in a fault system.
CEO James Hedalen says the copper, gold, and molybdenum grades intersected to date are consistent with the margins and upper levels of a porphyry system.
“Alteration, veining, and sulphide intensity increase with depth, pointing toward a potassic core below the levels reached this season,” Hedalen says.
“We look forward to drilling deeper into the core of this system in phase two, as well as initial drill tests of other targets in the portfolio.”
The El Perdido system sits within the Western Malargüe Copper Project, which covers 773,334 hectares. The project lies within the Neogene Porphyry Belt — a metallogenic belt that straddles the border between central Chile and Argentina.
