Marquee Resources (ASX:MQR) has reached fresh rock beneath transported cover for the first time at its Yindi Gold and Lithium Project, with samples submitted for assay.
The company completed three reverse circulation (RC) holes for 227m of a planned eight-hole, 1,125m program at the project, located 45km south of Northern Star Resources’ (ASX:NST) Carosue Dam operations in Western Australia.
Two deeper holes reached fresh rock beneath the cover, with the base of complete oxidation logged at 77m in 26YRC002 and approximately 86m in 26YRC003.
However, the program reportedly ended early due to ground conditions before the interpreted deeper target zones were reached.
Water-bearing sands and unstable weathered rock reportedly limited RC drilling, with the two deeper holes reaching 95m and 102m, short of their respective 140m and 150m target depths.
Despite this, Executive Chairman Charles Thomas says reaching fresh rock beneath the cover has given Marquee a ‘clearer picture’ of the geology in Yindi’s central corridor and the ground conditions needed to accommodate the next phase of drilling.
Marquee reports both holes intersected chlorite-sericite altered mafic rocks and dolerite with disseminated pyrite, locally estimated at up to approximately 2%, quartz veining, and minor magnetite below the oxidation base.
The company has submitted 55 samples covering the fresh and transitional rock from both holes to ALS in Perth for gold by 50g fire assay and a 48-element multi-element suite, with results pending.
Marquee is also assessing diamond drilling with cased pre-collars to manage the cover sequence and continuous core to support structural and alteration logging to test the ranked targets at depth.
Yindi comprises a 180km² tenure package on a major Yilgarn structure near Ramelius Resources’ (ASX:RMS) Roe project.
Marquee Resources is a junior explorer focused on discovering and developing critical battery minerals and precious metals.
