Deloitte Australia has Gorton a new CEO

Joanne Gorton on 1 February will take the helm as Deloitte Australia’s next CEO, succeeding Adam Powick, who has held the position since 2021.

Gorton is currently Deloitte’s Managing Partner, Audit and Assurance, a role she has held since 2020. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women, which is an organisation dedicated to advancing women’s leadership and promoting gender equity.

The incoming CEO over 20 years of multi-industry experience as an auditor working with high profile ASX100 clients and large public companies. In addition to her audit roles, she has also provided advisory services to her clients including internal audit, risk management, compliance and accounting advice on complex transactions and arrangements.

“I am thrilled to accept this appointment and for the opportunity to lead Deloitte Australia. The two things that matter to me most are our clients and our people, and they will be my focus as CEO,” Gorton says.

“Despite challenges in the near-term outlook, the future for our firm is exciting as we work together with our clients to unlock the potential of new technologies and opportunities while also making a positive impact on the economy and our communities.”

“Working at Deloitte has shaped me into the leader I am today, and I am grateful to the many leaders who have supported me throughout my career.”

Deloitte Australia Chair John Greig says Gorton is an exceptional leader and highly respected by her clients and colleagues alike.

“She is a trusted advisor to boards and executives across Australia and has an outstanding track record for client service and embracing technology-led transformation,” says Greig.

“Jo has a clear vision for our firm, and I am confident she will drive positive change as we continue to navigate this challenging period for professional services resulting from new technology, complex economic and geopolitical conditions and changing regulatory, societal and market expectations.”

Deloitte is a global provider of audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax, and related services. Its network of member firms in more than 150 countries and territories serves four out of five Fortune Global 500 companies.
