Middle Island appoints Serbian country manager

Middle Island Resources (ASX:MDI) has appointed Stefan Mojićević as country manager for Serbia, effective 1 August 2026, as it builds its local team to advance three exploration projects.

Mojićević joins Middle Island from Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO), where he spent more than three years as principal permitting advisor for the Jadar Lithium Project in Serbia.

During that time, he led land acquisition and environmental impact assessment processes, contributed to spatial planning, and worked with Serbian regulators and local authorities on permitting.

Mojićević has more than 10 years of legal and regulatory experience spanning Serbian real estate, permitting, and business law.

Before joining Rio Tinto, he spent almost five years as a senior legal associate at Deloitte Serbia, advising on corporate governance, contract negotiations, and real estate transactions.

Executive Chairman Daniel Raihani says Mojićević’s appointment adds permitting and land-access experience to the company’s Serbian operations.

“Stefan brings hard-won permitting expertise from Rio Tinto’s Jadar Project, backed by years of Serbian real estate and regulatory law practice,” Raihani says.

As country manager, Mojićević will oversee the company’s Serbian regulatory and stakeholder activities and government relations.

His responsibilities will include permitting and regulatory compliance across the company’s three Serbian projects, exploration licence renewals, land acquisition, tenement registration, and negotiations with landowners.

Mojićević will also manage relationships with the Ministry of Mining and Energy, environmental authorities, and municipal and provincial government bodies.

The appointment follows the addition of Sanela Karic as a non-executive director in March 2026 and the engagement of an unnamed in-country strategic advisor and consultant.

Middle Island acquired its Serbian assets through the Konstantin Resources purchase in 2025. Its portfolio comprises 14 licences covering approximately 620km² across the Bobija, Timok, and Priboj project areas.

Middle Island Resources is an Australian exploration company focused on gold and base metals deposits.
