Dart Mining lands ‘encouraging’ results at Granite Flat Copper-Gold Project, Victoria

Dart Mining (ASX:DTM) announces it has received ‘encouraging’ results following the completion of a regional 4 x 4km soil grid across the Granite Copper-Gold Project in Victoria.

The company reports the results have provided further evidence for the potential scale of Cu-Au mineralisation in this system.

A significant 2.4 x 1.8km copper-gold anomaly has been identified, with peak soil anomalies of 0.32% Cu, 3.1g/t Au, 807ppm Zn, 598ppm Pb, and 737ppm As.

Granite Flat is located within Dart Mining’s northeast exploration region between Mitta Mitta and Glen Wills, about 74km southeast of Albury-Wodonga and 360km northeast of Melbourne.

The Granite Flat area also contains ‘high-grade’ Cu-Au mineralised structures along northwest-oriented shears, making the area ‘highly prospective’ for lode-style gold, as well intrusion-related precious and base metals (Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn) mineralisation.

Commenting on the results, Dart Mining Chairman James Chirnside said: “The undertaking and completion of this soils program has redefined the project footprint, further emphasising the extensive scale of this project.

“The undertaking and completion of this soils program has redefined the project footprint”

The company is encouraged by these developments, particularly when considered in tandem with observed alteration within the recently completed deep diamond drilling program.”

The Granite Flat prospect is located 9km southeast of Mitta Mitta township and is accessed via the Omeo Highway. Historically, the prospect was mined at several small production centres between 1856 and 1918, following an initial discovery identified by tracing the source of alluvial gold in the Mitta River upstream.

Historic soil grids have established several ‘large, strong’ Cu-Au anomalies that have seen variable drilling efforts across the prospect. In total, 18 costeans, 52 reverse circulation (RC) and 19 diamond drillholes have been completed by previous explorers between 1986–1997.

Dart Mining’s objective is in exploring, evaluating, and developing, several historic goldfields, as well as validating a new porphyry province in Northeast Victoria. The area is ‘prospective’ for precious, base, battery, and other strategic metals.
