Cosmo delivers shallow gold intercepts at Kanowna

Cosmo Metals (ASX:CMO) reports initial reverse circulation (RC) drilling results from its Kanowna Gold Project in Western Australia, highlighting a peak result of 2m @ 3.72 grams per tonne gold from 30m at the Don Alvaro prospect.

The company received assays for selected fresh bedrock portions of five RC holes drilled along the Kanowna Shear Zone. These consist of two completed holes and three pre-collars ahead of diamond drilling.

Cosmo Metals notes that assays remain pending for weathered sections and diamond tails.

The peak intercept at Don Alvaro sits within a broader zone of 12m @ 0.79g/t gold from 30m in hole DARC001. The area is located around 80m west-northwest of previous drilling that returned up to 18m @ 5.30g/t gold from 24m and 10m @ 4.70g/t gold from 32m.

Managing Director Ian Prentice describes the initial results as “very encouraging”.

Meanwhile, at the Adder prospect, drilling returned 2m @ 0.31g/t gold from 75m in the pre-collar for hole ADRC002. And at Laguna Verde, the pre-collar was drilled to 100m.

“We are keenly awaiting the balance of the RC results from the pre-collar at Laguna Verde as well as the weathered portions of the Don Alvaro and Adder holes,”  Prentice says.

Cosmo says it has completed 875m of RC drilling across six holes and 591.1m of diamond drilling across four diamond tails at the project.

Located 13km northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, the Kanowna Gold Project covers 32km2 of contiguous tenure containing over 8km strike of the Kanowna Shear Zone.

Detailed geological logging of diamond core from the four pre-collared holes has been completed, with core processing underway.

The Western Australian Government Exploration Incentive Scheme co-funded hole at Laguna Verde is also being selectively sampled, with assays expected in the coming weeks.

Follow-up drilling along the Kanowna Shear and Fitzroy Fault targets are likewise planned following the receipt of full assay and geological datasets.

Cosmo Metals is a gold and base metals explorer, with key projects in Western Australia and New South Wales.
