Core sells final lithium fines to Glencore

Core Lithium (ASX:CXO) has agreed to sell the remaining 25,000 tonnes of lithium fines stockpiled at its Finniss Lithium Operation in the Northern Territory.

The binding marketing agreement with Glencore International — a subsidiary of Glencore (LSE:GLEN) — sets a base price of about US$285 ($395.47) per tonne, including cost, insurance, and freight.

Pricing is based on indicative lithium oxide content and prevailing market conditions. The final realised price will be based on dry tonnes and adjusted for grade, moisture, impurities, transport costs, and other customary commercial terms.

The shipment is scheduled to leave through Darwin Port during the September quarter, with net proceeds expected in the December quarter.

The transaction marks Core’s third and final fines stockpile sale following earlier deals in April and June. Core says the sales complete the monetisation of all existing stockpiles and bring incremental revenue from its total lithium sales during 2026 to about $38.5 million.

Managing Director Paul Brown says selling the stockpiled material has generated additional cash and strengthened Core’s financial flexibility as it ramps up operations at Finniss.

“These transactions demonstrate the strong relationship Core has established with Glencore,” Brown says.

“Core has successfully reactivated the Finniss logistics chain and is well-positioned for our first spodumene concentrate shipment in the December quarter.”

The company notes the fines sale provides a final test of the reinstated logistics chain before the company transitions to spodumene concentrate shipments from the restarted operation.

Core Lithium is an Australian lithium exploration and development company that owns the Finniss Lithium Operation on the Cox Peninsula, 88km by sealed road from Darwin Port.
