Copper One Resources (CSE:CEXY) has returned copper grades up to 1.15% from initial surface sampling at its Sport Project in Utah’s San Francisco mining district.
The company collected 50 rock grab samples during a first‑pass reconnaissance program, with the ‘highest grade’ of 1.15% copper (Cu) returned from sample SP002. A second sample assayed 0.82% Cu, with visible malachite and chalcopyrite observed in mineralised outcrops.
Copper One is acquiring the Sport Project through its proposed acquisition of Rooinek Mining, announced in July. The project comprises 108 contiguous unpatented lode mining claims covering approximately 770 hectares in Beaver County, western Utah, US.
The company’s initial interpretation suggests copper‑silver mineralisation occurs along faults and structural conduits within a geological setting characterised by breccia‑ and intrusive‑related copper mineralisation.
President and CEO David Greenway says the results provide a “strong starting point for systematic follow‑up exploration”.
“These initial results help further delineate favourable exploration zones in the highly prospective Sport Project, with surface samples returning up to 1.155% copper from our first-pass reconnaissance program,” Greenway notes.
“We now intend to expand our sampling, mapping, and geophysical work to better understand the controls on mineralisation and evaluate the potential for a broader intrusive-related copper system at Sport.”
The Sport Project lies on trend with Hawk Resources’ (ASX:HWK) Cactus Copper‑Gold Project within the historic Frisco copper trend. Copper One plans to expand surface sampling coverage and evaluate whether the observed mineralisation may provide vectors toward a concealed intrusive source.
The results come as copper reached a record intraday high of US$6.78 ($9.41) per pound on 26 August, driven by expanding investment in electrification, power grid infrastructure, renewable energy, and AI‑driven data centres.
“Copper reaching a new record intraday high reinforces why we are focused on building a portfolio of North American copper assets,” Greenway says.
Copper One’s flagship asset is the Majuba Hill copper‑silver‑gold district in Nevada. The company also owns the Redonda Copper‑Molybdenum Project in British Columbia, Canada, and holds an option on the Redhill property.
Copper One Resources is a Canadian mineral exploration company building a North American portfolio of copper, silver, gold, and molybdenum projects through systematic exploration and disciplined technical evaluation.
