‘Christmas’ at Leonora as CGN commences maiden drilling

CGN Resources (ASX:CGR) has started its first reverse circulation drilling program at the Christmas Well Project, located within the company’s Leonora Gold Project in Western Australia.

The approximately 4,000m program commenced on 18 July, with contractor Impact Drilling beginning work at the Ox Tongue target. CGN will then progressively test the Lambs Fry, Sweetbread, and Rocky Mountain Oyster prospects across the project.

Christmas Well occupies a strategic position within the Leonora Gold Province, immediately along strike from several multimillion-ounce gold deposits, including Gwalia, Tower Hill, King of the Hills, and Harbour Lights.

Managing Director Stan Wholley says the maiden drilling program at Christmas Well marks the culmination of a ‘tremendous’ amount of technical and field work by the team.

“We have assembled an outstanding portfolio of targets across a large, highly prospective landholding in one of Australia’s premier gold districts, and we are excited to begin systematically testing those targets,” Wholley says.

“Starting at Ox Tongue, this program represents the first step in unlocking what we believe is the considerable exploration potential of the project.”

CGN says the drilling program will provide the first ‘meaningful’ test of several large-scale gold targets across its Christmas Well landholding.

The company expects drilling to continue across its priority targets over the next month, with assay results anticipated four weeks after weekly submissions begin.

CGN Resources is a mineral explorer focused on discovering copper, gold, nickel, and critical minerals in WA.
