CGN Resources (ASX:CGR) has deferred its drilling campaign across its Leonora gold projects in Western Australia.
The company had planned to begin a reverse circulation drilling campaign this month (November 2026). However, in order to optimise this next phase of drilling, CGN Resources has moved the start date to early 2027, subject to the completion of program planning and relevant approvals.
CGN Resources says the revised drilling schedule is an opportunity to undertake several relevant workstreams. These include conducting additional interpretation and modelling to refine priority drill targets and evaluating the potential to incorporate further prospective areas into a broader exploration campaign.
Managing Director Stan Wholley says the team is “positioning the company to move efficiently into drilling when conditions are appropriate”.
“We are continuing to advance the operational preparations necessary for our next drilling campaign,” Wholley adds, noting that the necessary approvals are already in place and site preparations are nearing completion.
“CGN remains firmly committed to unlocking the significant gold exploration potential of our Leonora portfolio, and our confidence in the quality of our targets remains unchanged.
“We have a compelling pipeline of gold targets across Christmas Well and Panhandle and intend to use this opportunity to assess the potential to broaden our next drilling campaign to incorporate additional high-priority targets.”
CGN Resources plans to refine the interpreted geometry of mineralisation and optimise drill hole orientation at the high-priority Pelican and Rocky Mountain Oyster (RMO) targets, with the intention of improving the effectiveness of follow-up drilling.
This work builds on follow-up drilling, which was designed to test extensions of the known ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation.
Along with these activities, CGN Resources intends to undertake a broader technical assessment of its extensive Leonora target pipeline in order to identify additional opportunities for drill testing.
Results from this work will shape planning for any further heritage surveys, regulatory approvals and site preparations required for including new target areas into the drilling program.
Meanwhile, heritage, environmental, and regulatory requirements have already been obtained for drilling at Pelican and RMO, and principal drill site earthworks have been completed.
CGN Resources plans to continue further earthmoving and site preparation activities over the coming week.
CGN Resources is an Australian explorer advancing a diversified portfolio of gold, copper, nickel, and critical minerals projects across WA.
