CGN Resources cleared for drilling in Leonora

CGN Resources (ASX:CGR) is ready to begin drilling at its Christmas Well and Panhandle projects in the Leonora district of Western Australia following the successful completion of heritage surveys.

The company completed heritage surveys over numerous priority drill targets, receiving heritage clearance for the Ox Tongue, Lambs Fry, Sweetbread, Rocky Mountain Oyster, and Pelican targets.

CGN Resources will begin its maiden reverse circulation program this week, with around 4,000m of drilling to be conducted by Impact Drilling.

Impact Drilling is scheduled to arrive in Leonora and begin drilling on 17 July. Earthworks and site logistics have been completed at Christmas Well.

Drilling at Christmas Well will target untested greenfield prospects identified through modern geophysical interpretation, concealed litho-structural targets beneath transported cover, and historical gold discoveries that have never been systematically followed up using modern exploration techniques.

Managing Director Stan Wholley says this news marks a transition for the company, shifting from “project generation to drill testing some exceptionally compelling gold targets”.

“We greatly appreciate the strong collaboration with the Darlot Traditional Owner group, whose support has enabled us to move forward from a concept to an active program,” Wholley says.

“We are particularly encouraged that our first pass targets received heritage clearance, allowing us to systematically commence testing our portfolio of high-quality opportunities ranging from some high-grade historical prospects to completely untested greenfield targets.

“With drilling now only days away, we are excited to begin what we believe could be the start of a significant new gold discovery campaign in the Leonora district.”

CGN Resources is focused on unlocking Western Australia’s mineral potential through a portfolio of assets across the state.
