C29 Metals (ASX: C29) has reported ‘extensive’ zones of base metal anomalism following a diamond drilling campaign at its 100%-owned Reedy Creek Project in Central West New South Wales.
The results, generated from four diamond holes, include intersections of ‘broad’ intervals of copper, lead, zinc and gold anomalism observed from a shallow depth.
Individual grades include:
- Hole RCDH001: 31.02m @ 1.12% Zn from 28.98m downhole incl,
- 6.0m @ 0.65% Pb from 47m downhole
- Hole RCDH004: 17m @ 0.34% Cu from 53m downhole incl,
- 4m @ 1.32g/t Au from 104m downhole
Speaking on the results, Executive Director Mark Major said: “The company is delighted to have intersected significant mineralised zones. We have taken the first step in understanding this highly prospective shallow base metal and gold prospect. The drill program was designed to test the historical mine area and step out to test the continuation of the mineralisation.

The drilling has provided valuable insight into understanding the project geology and more importantly the nature of the mineralisation zones. It seems there is several mineralisation events in the system which need to be better understood. The extent of the system is still unknown and considered to be open along strike and at depth.”
The company also notes that zinc mineralisation was localised to the Berkley Formation limestone unit, and highest grades are found to be associated with skarn-altered rocks.
In addition, gold and copper mineralisation was found to be associated with altered volcaniclastic breccia, however, the copper appears to be remobilised or secondary in nature.
The Reedy Creek Project is located in the Eastern Lachlan Fold Belt, and comprises a granted exploration license covering a total land area of 42km².
The project, which is renowned for its historical copper production, has now been proven to host potential for ‘significant’ gold, lead and zinc mineralisation.
C29 reports that it is awaiting receipt of diamond core assays and sampling results before moving forward with further exploration at the historic mine.
Drill-testing is expected to take place later in the year at the newly-identified greenfields copper exploration targets.
