Tolu Minerals (ASX:TOK) has commissioned Warren Uyen as COO to lead operational expansion at the Tolukuma Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Uyen brings more than 30 years of mining experience across Australia, Papua New Guinea, and China, including five years as COO and senior vice president operations at K92 Mining (TSE:KNT).
Managing Director Chris Muller says Uyen is one of the most accomplished mining executives to have operated in PNG.
“[Warren’s] operational leadership was instrumental in the remarkable growth of K92 Mining, where the Kainantu mining operations evolved from a small underground mine into one of the world’s highest-grade and fastest-growing gold producers,” Muller says.
“Importantly, Warren brings extensive experience in managing rapid operational growth, major capital expansion projects, stakeholder engagement, and developing high-performing national workforces.
“His experience aligns perfectly with Tolu’s vision of transforming the Tolukuma Gold Mine into a modern, safe, and highly profitable mining operation.”
Prior to K92, Uyen held leadership roles with Macmahon (ASX:MAH), Eldorado Gold (NYSE:EGO), Barrick (NYSE:B) Gold (now known as Barrick), Teck (NYSE:TECK) Cominco (now Teck Resources), and Byrnecut Mining; and recently managed construction of the Gossan Valley Mine for 29Metals (ASX:29M).
The appointment comes as Tolu increases underground mining activities, expands exploration, and progresses operational improvements at Tolukuma to establish a long-life gold operation.
Tolu Minerals is a mineral explorer and developer focused on base and precious metals, specifically gold, silver, and copper, within the PNG Metallogenic Belt.
