BMG Resources (ASX: BMG) has reported the commencement of a scheduled diamond drilling campaign at its 100% owned Abercromby Gold Project, following completion of a follow-up regional aircore drilling program.
The Diamond drilling operation, consisting of 8 drill holes for 3,700m, has been designed to focus on infill and extensional drilling of the projects greater Capital Prospect’s mineralisation.
BMG’s goal for the drilling campaign is to define resources along the entire 6km-strike length of the mineralisation.
Addressing the update, BMG’s Managing Director, Bruce McCracken, said: “It’s fantastic to have a diamond rig back on site at Abercromby to build on the success of our drilling campaigns completed just a few months ago.
We’ve also made great progress over the past month with the follow-up air-core drilling of the large regional gold anomalies identified to the south of Capital, which has now wrapped-up.

These programs will continue to delineate the significant high-grade ore body at Capital as we progress towards maiden definition and test gold anomalies to the south identified by recent SAM and aircore drilling.

The company also notes that an aircore drilling operation, consisting of 57 drill holes for ~5,500m has been completed in the Capital South, Barrack and Archer prospects, with an additional two-holes set to be conducted in early July.
In addition, drilling will also test around the previously reported ‘significant’ depth extent to the shallow high-grade mineralisation, as well as the deeper intersection returned from the West Lode, of the Capital Prospect.
The Abercromby Gold Project is located within the north-eastern goldfields of Western Australia, and borders the major gold deposits of Jundee and Wiluna. The region is second only to Kalgoorlie in terms of production.
The project is host to a ‘large, high-grade’ gold system across two granted mining leases with the company owning 100% of all associated tenements.
With the diamond drilling campaign still ongoing, BMG reports that it remains focused on achieving maiden Mineral Resource definition for the prospect.
