Pinnacle Silver and Gold (TSX-V:PINN) has received initial results from underground drilling at the Potrero Gold-Silver Project in Mexico, which CEO Robert Archer says is proving to be ‘invaluable’ in improving the understanding of the El Potrero mineralising system.
Out of 108 planned holes, 58 have been drilled to date and assays have been received for 37.
Pinnacle Silver and Gold says the most ‘significant’ result so far is from hole EPUG26035 in the upper level of the Pinos Cuates deposit, as it was drilled horizontally from the end of the underground workings and at a shallow angle to the strike of the vein. The objective of this hole was to determine the potential extent of mineralisation along strike to the northwest.
The best part of the intersection assayed 9.69 grams per tonne gold and 143g/t silver over a core length of 13.18m, with one sample containing fine-grained visible gold assaying 59.2g/t gold and 424g/t silver over 1.07m.
Archer notes that the first holes are considered “extremely encouraging”.
“As we have recently demonstrated from the underground channel sampling at the Dos de Mayo mine, higher grade mineralisation occurs in sub-vertical ‘shoots’ separated by lower grade vein material,” the CEO adds.
What’s to come
Drilling is ongoing at the Pinos Cuates deposit. Upon completion, it is anticipated that the drill rig will move to Dos de Mayo, starting with hole EPUG26084.
The company notes surface drilling is expected to begin between September and October 2026. Drilling will fill in gaps between the historical mines in addition to testing up and down dip and along strike to the northwest on the Dos de Mayo vein.
Other mineralised veins such as El Capulin and La Estrella will also be drilled for the first time ever. The combined results will then be used to generate an internal resource estimate that will, in turn, be used to develop a preliminary mine plan.
The Potrero Project hosts a gold-silver vein system and lies within the Sierra Madre Occidental, a well-known trend of silver and gold deposits running down the western side of Mexico. The belt measures roughly 1,200km long by 200–300km wide.
