Kobrea Exploration (CSE:KBX) has secured approval for a US$4 million ($5.74 million) exploration program at its Western Malargüe Copper Projects in Argentina’s Mendoza Province.
The management committee overseeing Kobrea’s exploration alliance with BHP Group (ASX:BHP) approved the 2026–27 work program and budget. BHP subsidiary BHP Metals Exploration will fund the work during the alliance’s project generation phase.
The program combines diamond drilling at the El Destino copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry prospect with exploration across the broader 733km² land package.
Kobrea CEO James Hedalen says the funding enables a summer campaign covering established targets and less-explored ground.
“The program combines district-scale exploration designed to identify and advance additional porphyry targets with diamond drilling at El Destino, one of the priority targets identified by our technical teams,” Hedalen says.
Drilling and regional surveys
Induced polarisation surveys are planned at El Destino and KBX-17, alongside rock-chip sampling and geological mapping at known porphyry prospects.
Other work includes reconnaissance of newly identified targets, property-wide hyperspectral analysis, and stream sediment sampling. Heavy mineral concentrates will be examined for indicator minerals, while selected samples will undergo analysis to determine geological ages.
The update follows Kobrea’s latest payment under its Western Malargüe option agreement, as previously reported by Mining.com.au. Kobrea holds the right to earn a 100% interest in the seven projects.
Kobrea Exploration is a Canadian explorer advancing base metal projects in Argentina and Canada, including its wholly owned Upland Copper Project in British Columbia.
