Azure Minerals (ASX: AZS) has intersected ‘significant’ gold mineralisation from a maiden 21 hole exploration drilling campaign at the Daisy Corner prospect within its Barton Project in Western Australia.
The results indicate that gold mineralisation, encountered in multiple holes, extends for 800m along strike to the northwest of the Genesis Minerals’ Puzzle and Puzzle North gold deposits, with highlight intersections including:
- Hole BTRC0002: 4m @ 0.68g/t Au from 31m downhole
- Hole BTRC0009: 10m @ 0.44g/t Au from 55m downhole
- Hole BTRC0010: 10m @ 0.52g/t Au from 39m downhole, incl. 1m @ 3.98g/t Au from 46m downhole, and 8m @ 0.59g/t Au from 127m downhole
- Hole BTRC0014: 5m @ 0.92g/t Au from 1m downhole, incl. 1m @ 3.44g/t Au from 42m downhole and, 3m @ 0.63g/t Au from 54m downhole
- Hole BTRC0020: 20m @ 0.43g/t Au from 17m downhole
Commenting on the results, Azure Minerals Managing Director Tony Rovira said: “Given the early exploration stage of the Barton Project we’re encouraged to have intersected widespread gold mineralisation in our first drilling program. Surface exploration is continuing, with geophysical surveys and more drilling to be undertaken over the course of this year.”

The company notes that the gold mineralisation contains certain characteristics that make it likely to be structurally controlled and not limited to granite-greenstone contact, enhancing size potential for the mineralised system.

Image: Azure Minerals LimitedThe Barton Project, situated near the historical gold mining town of Kookynie, adjoins several expanding gold deposits and projects including the Ulysses Gold and Apollo Hill projects, and sits 300m north of Genesis Minerals’ (ASX: GMD) 232,000 ounce Puzzle North gold deposit.
The project encompasses 88km of strike across the main Kookynie geological sequence, which has historically produced more than 1.1Moz of gold from open pit and underground mining.
With the recent RC drilling campaign now complete, the company is continuing follow-up work including geological mapping and soil sampling leading up to its next drill program.
