The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) has opened applications for the 2025 Epiroc Women in Mining Scholarship.
The Epiroc Women in Mining Scholarship offers an opportunity for one female student to receive support during their academic pursuits. The recipient will also gain exclusive access to several experiences, designed to enhance their career prospects in the mining industry.
An Epiroc spokesperson says the program aims to support and empower female students in pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or technology-centred fields in Western Australia, and is designed to empower and inspire the next generation of female engineers in the mining industry.
“By investing in these talented individuals, Epiroc aims to help them break new ground and make a meaningful impact on the mining sector.
“Our commitment is to build a more inclusive and diverse future in mining, where women are equipped with the tools and opportunities to excel and lead. Through this scholarship, we are not only supporting individual growth but also contributing to the advancement of the industry as a whole.”
The scholarship includes becoming the 2025 Epiroc Women in Mining ambassador, a $2,000 visa gift card to support studies and interests, the option of paid work experience with Epiroc, and the opportunity to participate in an overnight tour of an active mine site.
AusIMM says the site tour experience will give the student first-hand insights into operations and industry practices, alongside a tour of the Epiroc Perth workshop and facilities.
The recipient will also receive two VIPP invites to AusIMM’s International Women’s Day launch event in Perth on 23 October 2024, as well as two VIP tickets to its International Women’s Day event held on 8 March 2025. These tickets are valued at over $380.
