Asara expands CEO’s role for growth period

Asara Resources (ASX:AS1) is expanding CEO Matthew Sharples’ role with his appointment as Managing Director, effective 1 May 2026.

This addition to the role brings Sharples onto the board of directors.

Asara says the appointment is a reflection of Sharples’ role in advancing exploration activities and strategic direction for the company since joining as CEO.

His appointment will support the ongoing acceleration of an exploration strategy at Asara’s flagship asset, the Kada Gold Project in Guinea.

Chairman Jeff Quartermaine says Asara is delighted to welcome Sharples to the board at a pivotal time for company growth.

“Since his appointment as CEO, Matthew has been instrumental in restarting and advancing exploration activities at Kada and expanding the company’s footprint in Guinea,” Quartermaine says.

Earlier this year, Asara returned intersections including 14m @ 1 gram per tonne gold from 17m, 32m @ 0.7g/t gold from 56m, and 44m @ 0.6g/t gold from 109m from the Massan deposit within the Kada Project, as reported by Mining.com.au.

The exploration campaign comprised 3,593m of drilling across 16 holes in phase one reverse circulation and diamond drilling in the resource estimate area.

As of 1 May 2026, the company has a market capitalisation of $216.83 million.

Asara Resources is a mineral explorer focused on its portfolio of projects in Guinea, West Africa, and South America.

The Kada Gold Project in eastern Guinea has an indicated and inferred Mineral Resource Estimate of 30.3 million tonnes at 1 gram per tonne gold for 923,000 ounces.

Trading Economics reported the price of gold at US$4,630 ($6,428.5) per ounce as of 1 May, representing a 43.04% increase year over year.
